About The Role
In this role, you will partner closely with internal teams to evaluate and assess risk for both new and existing clients. You will contribute to building and maintaining a profitable book of business through underwriting expertise, relationship management, and market insight. Success in this role comes from strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and underwrite new and renewal business including risk assessment, pricing, market selection, quote preparation, and broker communication while supporting key financial objectives
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support business objectives and market strategies
- Analyze risk, negotiate terms, and issue new business, renewals, and endorsements in alignment with underwriting guidelines
- Process policy changes, including endorsements, coverage adjustments, and limit increases
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and market partners through regular communication and meetings
- Manage the full lifecycle of assigned accounts from submission through expiry
- Communicate directly with brokers and external stakeholders
- Work closely with internal support teams through both written and verbal communication
- Ensure accuracy and quality of underwriting outputs, including rating, coding, and policy issuance
- Support the development of junior team members through mentorship and guidance
- Actively manage and monitor the quality and profitability of the assigned portfolio
- Deliver responsive and knowledgeable service aligned with client expectations
- Adhere to established best practices and service standards
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and contribute to marketing initiatives
- Build and maintain strong, service-focused relationships with broker partners through consistent communication and engagement
- Stay informed on market conditions, industry trends, and emerging risks
Essential Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who demonstrates strong judgment, collaboration, and a client-focused mindset
- Bachelor’s degree and/or CIP or FCIP designation (or equivalent) preferred
- Experience within a domestic insurer or MGA environment
- Valid provincial insurance license, or ability to obtain one within 6 months
- Strong understanding of policy wordings, coverages, and underwriting principles
- Prior experience in commercial underwriting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Effective time management and prioritization skills

- Traiter les modifications de polices, y compris les avenants, les ajustements de couverture et les augmentations de limites

- Gérer le cycle de vie complet des comptes attribués, de la soumission à l'expiration
- Communiquer directement avec les courtiers et les parties prenantes externes

Qualifications requises
- Le candidat idéal est un professionnel proactif et soucieux du détail, qui fait preuve d’un bon jugement, d’un esprit de collaboration et d’une approche axée sur le client
- Diplôme de licence et/ou titre de CIP ou FCIP (ou équivalent) souhaité
- Expérience au sein d’un assureur national ou d’un environnement AGG
- Licence d’assurance provinciale valide, ou capacité à en obtenir une dans les 6 mois
- Solide compréhension des libellés de polices, des couvertures et des principes de souscription
- Expérience préalable en souscription commerciale
- Grand souci du détail et sens de l'organisation
- Capacité à travailler de manière autonome et en collaboration
- Capacité à gérer des priorités concurrentes et à respecter les délais
- Solides compétences analytiques et numériques
- Capacité avérée à résoudre des problèmes et à faire preuve de créativité
- Solides compétences interpersonnelles et en matière de développement de relations
- Compétences efficaces en gestion du temps et en hiérarchisation des priorités
