Full-Time Health Records Technician

We are currently seeking a meticulous and dedicated Health Records Technician to join the Health Information Management department at Atikokan General Hospital, located in Atikokan, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who understands the critical importance of accurate health information management and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and data integrity.

Job Summary

As a Health Records Technician, you will play an essential role in ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and security of patient health information. Your responsibilities will include coding, abstracting, and submitting DAD and NACRS data, ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and regulatory standards, and supporting healthcare providers by maintaining complete and up-to-date patient documentation. You will work closely with clinical staff and other departments to facilitate the seamless flow of health information throughout the organization.

Start date: As soon as possible

Term: Full-time contract for 3 months

Location: On site at Atikokan General Hospital

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Health Information Management (HIM) from a CHIMA accredited program.
• Canadian College of Health Information Management Certification.
• Active member of the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
• Minimum two (2) years of health information management experience.
• Sensitivity to privacy and confidentiality.
• Clerical skills including exceptional typing, filing, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Prior transcription experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of ICD-10-CA & CCI coding conventions, medical terminology and disease nomenclature, and statistical interpretation and presentation.
• Background in electronic applications including word processing and spreadsheets.

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
