Company Overview
Halifax Vision Surgical Centre is a pioneering private surgical facility dedicated to providing exceptional eye care outside of traditional hospital settings. With a focus on intraocular lens replacement surgeries, the centre has helped thousands of patients achieve clearer vision and reduce dependence on glasses and contact lenses.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Pre/Post Recovery Room Assistant to join our dynamic team. • Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, and promptly report abnormal findings to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Prepare and administer ophthalmic drops and other medications in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice.
  • Monitor patients following medication administration and procedures and communicate changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Provide clear, compassionate education regarding post-operative care and restrictions, including activity limitations, medication instructions, and other discharge requirements.
  • Confirm that patients and caregivers understand post-operative instructions and know when and how to seek additional medical assistance.
  • Assist with patient flow, ensuring patients are prepped accordingly as to not hold up the OR and recovery-room turnover
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Follow infection-control, medication-safety, privacy, and workplace-safety policies and maintain a clean work environment. Disinfect chairs and equipment when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, physicians, and other members of the surgical team.
  • Maintain a calm, reassuring environment for patients who may be anxious before or after surgery.
  • Perform other duties appropriate to the role and level of training.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery, ophthalmology, surgical recovery, or outpatient healthcare setting is an asset.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols accurately.
  • Excellent communication and patient-education skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, compassionate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. They demonstrate sound judgment, prioritize patient safety, and communicate clearly with both patients and clinical colleagues.
