BCIT’s School of Health Sciences Nursing program is seeking temporary, part-time and/or temporary, full-time Faculty, Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is a three-year, full-time program, delivered in-person over three terms per year. The program is based on a concept, competency-based approach. Our program is innovative in design and implements labs, practicums, and blended learning as teaching strategies.
Opportunities may be available for the following areas in a variety of contexts (simulation, clinical, lab, and theory). Candidates who have the flexibility to teach the programs below would be preferred:
- Medical/Surgical
- Mental Health
- Perinatal
- Pediatrics
- Public Health
- Simulation
- Indigenous Health
- Global Health
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated clinical experience in Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, Perinatal, Pediatrics or Community Health with a minimum of 2-3 years nursing experience.
- A Masters degree is a requirement for this position for candidates who are successful in obtaining regular/permanent status in this position, however, BCIT will consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a Masters Degree program with an intention of completing the degree within a specified time period, or those who have the intention of enrolling in a program and completing their Masters Degree within a specified time period. Professional development support may be available for course work and practicum experiences. One degree must be in Nursing. Applicants with only a BSN may be considered with limitation.
- Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience preferably in an academic institution is considered an asset. Including but not limited to:
- Facilitating simulation, and experience using simulation best practice standards
- Demonstrated ability using educational technologies, including online learning platforms
- Demonstrated abilities in cultural safety and decolonized approaches integrated into teaching practice
- Knowledge and experience of curriculum development using various delivery methods.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and to supporting student learning.
- Ability and willingness to contribute in Faculty of Nursing meetings and initiatives.
- Ability and willingness to travel to assigned clinical practice sites.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency. Proficiency with Learning Content Management Systems (e.g., Learning Hub, Blackboard, etc.) considered an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Completion of formal courses related to teaching including but not limited to:
- Provincial Instructor Diploma,
- CASN’s Nurse Educator,
- Clinical Instructor, and/or
- Simulation Educator course
- Demonstrated interest in applied research.
- Current and active British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) registration.
- Current CPR (HCP) certification.
- Current Respiratory Fit Mask Test.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding to uphold the BCIT commitments of the IDEAS framework that also intersect with nursing professional commitments https://www.bcit.ca/ideas/

- Demonstrates commitment toward identifying, confronting, and eliminating Indigenous-specific racism, other forms of discrimination of equity-deserving groups within learning and healthcare environments such as through self-reflection and engaging in anti-racism and diversity, equity, and inclusivity training.
- Demonstrated understanding of legislation and policy commitments in British Columbia, such as the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), BC Human Rights Code, and the BCCNM Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility, and Anti-racism Practice Standard
