About Brokkr
Brokkr Mineral Resources is a Vancouver-based startup developing a cleaner and more environmentally friendly approach to recovering valuable metals from mineral resources.
We are now moving into the next stage: building and operating our pilot plant. We are a small, hands-on technical team looking for someone excited to join us at this stage and grow with the company.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Process Development Technologist who is comfortable in a wet laboratory, learns quickly, and enjoys practical experimental work.
Your initial focus will be laboratory process development. You will run bench-scale experiments to support pilot-plant design and optimize parts of our process, including leaching, solid-liquid separation, ion exchange, and other process-development work.
As the pilot plant comes online, the role will expand into hands-on pilot operation, including operating equipment, collecting and interpreting data, troubleshooting, and supporting optimization trials.
We are looking for someone who can work carefully and independently, understand the chemistry and calculations behind their experiments, and recognize when a result does not make sense.
What You'll Do
Laboratory & Process Development
- Prepare solutions, standards, and experimental feeds and perform titrations and routine wet chemistry.
- Set up and run bench-scale experiments according to defined test plans.
- Perform concentration, dilution, stoichiometric, and basic mass-balance calculations.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including ion-exchange columns.
- Collect samples and process data and identify unexpected or inconsistent results.
- Maintain clear, traceable experimental records.
- Keep laboratory equipment and work areas organized and safe.
Pilot Plant
- Support equipment setup and process-development work as testing moves from bench to pilot scale.
- Operate and monitor pilot equipment during trials.
- Collect samples and process data and compare performance with laboratory results and design expectations.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues alongside the engineering team.
- Carry out optimization trials and support hands-on pilot operation.
- Help develop practical SOPs, checklists, and operating procedures.
What You Bring
- A diploma or degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, mineral processing, chemical technology, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred but not essential.
- Hands-on wet-laboratory experience is essential.
- Good understanding of solution chemistry, concentrations, dilutions, stoichiometry, and basic mass balances.
- Strong attention to detail and organized experimental record-keeping.
- Comfortable working hands-on with laboratory and process equipment.
- Curious, practical, and able to learn unfamiliar processes quickly.
- A safety-conscious approach to laboratory work.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ion exchange, resin testing, or adsorption.
- Experience in hydrometallurgy, mineral processing, chemical processing, or bioprocessing.
- Experience with bench- or pilot-scale process equipment and troubleshooting.
- Experience preparing samples for ICP analysis or interpreting analytical laboratory results.
- Experience developing laboratory methods, SOPs, or operating instructions.
- Practical mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or fabrication skills.
You do not need experience with every part of our process. Strong fundamentals, good judgment, hands-on ability, and the capacity to learn quickly are more important.
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
