Full job description

The Research and Productivity Council (RPC) is NB’s provincial research organization, a research & technology organization that provides analytical and applied research services. In business since 1962, we serve over 1000 clients annually from our locations in Fredericton and Moncton, New Brunswick.

We are recruiting to fill a position for a Medical Gas Inspection (MGI) Technician based in New Brunswick, Newfoundland or Nova Scotia, the Medical Gas Inspection (MGI) Technician will perform inspections (and generate related reports) for medical gas systems at health care facilities throughout Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will receive extensive training to be qualified to perform the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Travel extensively throughout Atlantic Canada to health care facilities (>90%)

· Perform inspections and record results of medical gas systems as instructed/trained by the MGI Technical Manager

· Complete accurate data reports related to inspection activities

· Support the MGI Technical Manager in the development of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

REQUIREMENTS:

· Hold a post-secondary diploma/certificate in a related technical field

· Willingness to travel to work sites throughout Atlantic Canada (by land & air)

· Strong organizational skills

· Possess excellent communication skills

· Able to work closely with Health Care Facility Staff and local authorities.

· Able to work independently

· Willingness to work significant overtime (both early mornings and long days at times)

· Experience with piping systems.

· Experience with reading and interpreting technical drawings.

· Ability to learn to interpret and follow Standards.

· Ability to learn to accurately test and record/report test results.

· Ability to learn and adjust to new and changing standards and situations.

· Very strong written and verbal communication skills in English required. Ability to communicate in French is an asset

· Must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license

· Able to stand for long periods of time in many types of work environments

· Able to lift 50 Ibs

Compensation range is $54,392-63,934 for 36.25 hours/week (overtime compensation will be in addition to this base salary). RPC offers a generous employee benefit plan including a defined benefit pension plan, Top Up for Maternity Leave, Wellness rebates, paid leave, and more.
