Job Summary

Medical Aesthetics Clinical Instructor

International MedSpa Academy | Calgary, Alberta

International MedSpa Academy is seeking an exceptional Medical Aesthetics Clinical Instructor for our Calgary flagship location.

This is not a conventional beauty-school educator position.

IMA is physician-led and grounded in cosmetic medicine.

Our training integrates medical anatomy and physiology, aesthetics, technology, technical execution, consultation, client experience and business into one comprehensive system.

We are looking for an unusually intelligent, curious and academically minded person who learns complex information quickly and has the presence, precision and communication skills to teach it exceptionally well.Prior experience matters here, but so does intellectual curiosity. We are interested in what you already know, and equally interested in how quickly you can recognize, assimilate and apply what you don’t.

The Role

You will work directly with IMA’s founder and physician educator to develop a deep understanding of the Academy’s methods and ultimately become responsible for delivering those standards consistently to others.

You will:

  • Teach and develop medical aesthetics professionals across technical, clinical, consultation and commercial competencies
  • Break complex concepts and treatments into clear, teachable components
  • Evaluate competency and identify precisely where additional development is required
  • Direct and observe multiple learners simultaneously, identifying and correcting technical details while maintaining the structure and progression of the training
  • Adapt training in real time to different learning speeds and changing circumstances without compromising the standard
  • Observe, coach and up-train existing teams
  • Help train and launch teams at new medspa locations
  • Maintain consistency of IMA methodology across individuals and locations
  • Work independently as your mastery of the IMA system develops
  • Travel periodically for training and new-location launches

Experience

Meaningful prior experience in medical aesthetics, cosmetic medicine or advanced professional aesthetics is required.

Experience working alongside a cosmetic physician, dermatologist, plastic surgeon or within another medically directed aesthetics environment is strongly preferred.We are interested in experienced medical aesthetics professionals, clinical or nurse educators with relevant cosmetics exposure, senior laser/skin professionals, and RNs with cosmetic experience or a strong interest and foundation in medical aesthetics.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Laser and energy-based technologies
  • Advanced skin treatments and medical facials
  • Microneedling and radiofrequency treatments
  • CoolSculpting or other body-contouring technologies
  • Assisting with cosmetic injectable treatments
  • Medical aesthetics consultations and treatment planning
  • Client education, treatment coordination and sales
  • Staff education or clinical training

Previous formal instructor or trainer experience is valuable, but it is not essential for an exceptional candidate with the right clinical foundation, communication ability and capacity to learn.Exceptional practical ability, fine hand skill and the ability to demonstrate technical procedures with precision are essential.

Location: Calgary, Alberta Position: Full-time. Travel: Periodic travel and on-location training required. Compensation: Starting salary of $65,000 with competency-based salary progression and additional commission earning opportunities when working in operational roles. Progression is based on demonstrated capability, not tenure.
