Full job description

Position Summary

City Centre Eye Surgeons, an ophthalmology practice in Saskatoon, is seeking a Surgical Booking & Patient Education Coordinator. Reporting to the Office Manager, this position is responsible for booking surgical dates, maintaining the surgical waitlist, ensuring all pre-operative testing is complete, and educating patients on their procedure, intraocular lens (IOL) options, and aftercare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Book, confirm, and follow up on surgery appointments; create and maintain the surgical waitlist
  • Coordinate the surgical schedule with hospital booking departments, including completing and faxing booking cards and communicating changes
  • Educate and counsel patients regarding surgery, IOLs, and aftercare; respond to patient inquiries professionally
  • Verify completion of required pre-operative testing and arrange repeat testing as needed
  • Prepare surgery books, complete IOL calculations for surgeon approval, and file implant documentation
  • Order and organize IOLs and surgical supplies; process RMAs, IOL billing, and insurance forms
  • Send and file surgical consents and orders; create and modify forms, letters, and prescriptions in Accuro
  • Coordinate industry representative visits to the operating room

Qualifications

  • Experience in medical office administration or surgical booking; ophthalmology experience is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional communication
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (Accuro preferred)
  • Discretion in handling confidential health information in accordance with HIPA
