Full job description

Sadiq Law Professional Corporation is a full-service family law firm located in North York, Toronto. We are seeking a motivated, outgoing, and detail-oriented Articling Student or NCA Candidate to join our team.

This position offers hands-on experience in family law, direct client interaction, exposure to court proceedings and procedure, and opportunities to develop practical legal skills in a busy law firm environment.

This is an in-person position at our North York office. Applicants should reside in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area and be able to commute to the office on a regular basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls, book consultations and respond to inquiries from prospective clients regarding the firm's services and intake process.
  • Draft and prepare family law court documents, including Applications, Answers, Financial Statements, Affidavits, Motions, and other court materials.
  • Assist with the preparation, service, filing, and online filing of court documents.
  • Conduct client interviews and meetings to obtain information required for court forms, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Communicate with clients regarding procedural matters, next steps, timelines, and the firm's services.
  • Review and organize financial disclosure and other documentary evidence.
  • Communicate with courts, process servers, opposing counsel, and other third-party service providers.
  • Perform other duties reasonably required in a busy family law practice.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong legal writing, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Professional and comfortable communicating directly with clients.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and general computer applications.
  • Interest in developing a career in family law.
  • Familiarity with Ontario family law procedure and court forms is an asset.
