Senior Health Research Analyst
Full-time position based in Kanata North for a one-year term, with the opportunity for renewal and advancement. We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Senior Health Research Analyst to join our team.
We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
Position Summary
The Senior Health Research Analyst (SHRA) leads and supports complex health research and survey projects involving large datasets, publicly available surveys, client-facing analyses, and applied statistical methods. The role requires strong technical capability in epidemiology, biostatistics, survey methodology, and health research, along with the ability to translate findings into clear, decision-ready insights for internal and external stakeholders. The SHRA also plays an important role in evidence synthesis activities, including systematic reviews, targeted literature reviews, and meta-analyses, helping to generate rigorous, high-quality evidence to inform client deliverables and strategic decision-making.
The SHRA works closely with Health Research Analysts, Medical Writers and Researchers, and reports to the Director of Software Development. This role may also provide technical guidance, quality oversight, and day-to-day mentorship to more junior team members.
Responsibilities
The SHRA will play a central role in the planning, execution, analysis, and communication of complex health research projects. This position requires strong methodological and statistical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while producing high-quality, client-ready work. The role combines technical leadership, hands-on analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and support for continuous improvement in research quality and delivery.
- Lead the design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of complex health research projects, including observational studies, meta-analyses, and secondary analyses of large health datasets.
- Develop and refine study methodologies, statistical analysis plans, survey instruments, data collection tools, data dictionaries, and data management procedures to support rigorous and reproducible research.
- Conduct advanced statistical analyses using methods appropriate to the research question, dataset structure, and study design, including descriptive, inferential, multivariable, longitudinal, and survey-weighted approaches where applicable.
- Work with large proprietary and publicly available datasets to test hypotheses, identify trends, evaluate outcomes, assess data quality, and generate actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
- Translate analytic findings into high-quality reports, slide presentations, technical summaries, manuscripts, and other deliverables tailored to scientific, business, and client audiences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that research protocols, survey logic, variable definitions, evidence synthesis methods, and analytic workflows are methodologically sound and operationally feasible.
- Support project planning, prioritization, workflow management, and quality control across multiple concurrent studies to help ensure that timelines, deliverables, and client expectations are met.
- Review the work of other analysts, provide methodological guidance, and contribute to the technical development of junior team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation of methods, assumptions, code, outputs, and controlled research records in accordance with company procedures and applicable quality requirements.
- Monitor developments in statistics, health research, survey methods, and relevant therapeutic or policy areas to strengthen internal capability and improve project execution.
- Ensure that work is conducted in accordance with applicable organizational policies, client requirements, privacy expectations, and research governance standards.
Requirements
- At minimum, a master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, health sciences, statistics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of postgraduate education, including relevant professional postgraduate qualifications, and directly relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading or independently executing complex health research or survey-based projects.
- Strong experience analyzing large datasets, including publicly available surveys.
- Advanced proficiency in at least one major statistical programming environment such as R, SAS, or Stata.
- Demonstrated ability to select and apply appropriate statistical methods and clearly explain findings, limitations, and implications to non-technical audiences.
- Strong scientific writing skills, including experience preparing reports, presentations, and client-ready deliverables.
- Excellent judgment, attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a high-quality, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex survey design, weighting, and analysis.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or consulting environments.
- Experience mentoring junior analysts or reviewing technical work for quality and consistency.
- Familiarity with research reporting standards, reproducible workflows, and documentation practices.
- Experience presenting findings to clients, senior leadership, or external stakeholders.
Core Competencies
- Statistical reasoning and methodological rigor
- Survey and observational research design
- Data interpretation and scientific communication
- Project leadership and quality oversight
- Collaboration and stakeholder communication
- Judgment, accountability, and attention to detail
Work Environment and Expectations
This role requires sustained analytical work, close attention to detail, regular use of computer-based statistical tools, and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. The role may also involve responding to evolving client needs and shifting project timelines while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy. Reasonable accommodation is available for applicants and employees with disabilities in accordance with applicable law.
