Psychometric Rater – Mental Health & Clinical ResearchOverview

We are seeking an experienced Psychometric Rater with a strong background in mental health to join our clinical research team on a casual basis. The ideal candidate will have experience administering psychometric assessments and clinical rating scales in psychiatric and/or neurodegenerative populations.

Experience working with individuals with depression, PTSD or other psychiatric disorders is required. Experience administering MADRS or equivalent scales (HAM-D, SIGH-D) is required for this role. Candidates with experience in neurocognitive or neurodegenerative assessments are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Administer psychometric assessments and clinical rating scales accurately and consistently.
  • Conduct structured and semi-structured clinical interviews in accordance with study protocols and standardized rating guidelines.
  • Maintain complete and accurate assessment documentation and study records.
  • Follow study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable ethical and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with investigators, research coordinators, other raters, and healthcare professionals.
  • Complete study-specific scale training, certification, and ongoing rater training as required.
  • Maintain consistency and reliability in rating and scoring across study visits.

Rating Scales:

Depending on the study, assessments may include:

  • MADRS (Montgomery–Åsberg Depression Rating Scale)
  • SIGH-D17 / HAM-D (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale)
  • MINI (Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview)
  • BPRS (Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale)
  • CGI-S (Clinical Global Impression – Severity)
  • MGH ATRQ (Massachusetts General Hospital Antidepressant Treatment Response Questionnaire)
  • C-SSRS (Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale)
  • NPI (Neuropsychiatric Inventory)

Previous experience administering some of the above scales or comparable psychiatric/neurocognitive assessments is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degreee in psychology-related field is required.
  • Master’s degree or higher in psychology, counselling, social work, or another mental health-related field preferred.
  • International Medical Graduates may be considered if they have relevant psychiatry, psychology, or mental health experience.
  • Clinical experience working with psychiatric populations, preferably including depression, PTSD, treatment-resistant depression.
  • Experience administering psychometric assessments, structured clinical interviews, or psychiatric rating scales.
  • Experience in clinical research, hospitals, mental health clinics, or similar healthcare environments is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills, particularly when working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately document assessment findings.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Understanding of ethical standards and regulations governing clinical research and patient care.
