About the Role:

A well-established and growing organization in the construction and building materials space is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Sales Representative to support continued growth in the Ottawa region. This opportunity is ideal for someone who believes strong relationships drive long-term success.

Based in Ottawa, this Sales Representative position blends inside and outside sales, supporting contractors, builders, designers, and developers through every stage of their projects. You’ll act as a trusted partner, helping clients make informed decisions while supporting their business growth.

Success in this role comes from listening, understanding project needs, and consistently delivering value, not transactional selling.

Why You’ll Love This Role

Inside Sales

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers visiting our Ottawa-based sales centre
  • Provide expert guidance to contractors, builders, and trade professionals on product selection, pricing, and technical specifications
  • Prepare accurate and detailed quotations, estimates, and sales orders for residential and commercial construction projects using supplier software platforms
  • Proactively follow up on walk-in clients, inbound leads, and project-related inquiries to drive opportunities forward
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including operations, procurement, and logistics to ensure seamless order fulfillment and on-time deliveries
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date customer, project, and sales activity records within the CRM system

Outside Sales

  • Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, developers, architects, and designers
  • Conduct job-site visits, client meetings, and project walk-throughs to support active and upcoming projects
  • Identify projects early in the construction and specification cycle to influence product selection
  • Prospect for new business opportunities while expanding and strengthening existing accounts
  • Deliver on-site product recommendations, technical support, and consultative guidance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage and track the sales pipeline, consistently meeting or exceeding defined sales targets

What Sets You Up for Success

  • Proven experience in sales, account management, or business development ideally within construction, building materials, or a related industry
  • Strong consultative selling skills and a customer-first mindset
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, or construction drawings (or willingness to learn)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills
  • Comfortable working with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and confident working independently in the field
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally

Work Conditions

  • Primary work location is the Ottawa office with regular off-site appointments
  • Frequent local travel to customer sites, job sites, and industry events
  • Flexible working hours, including occasional evenings or weekends to support customer needs
  • Regular interaction with customers, internal teams, and external partners
  • Daily use of desktop computer systems and office technology

Our Total Rewards:

  • Competitive base pay with commission opportunities, plus a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, and vision)
  • Car allowance
  • RRSP matching
  • Paid vacation and statutory holidays
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Collaborative, growth-oriented work environment
  • A supportive team environment where safety and quality come first.
