Full job description

New Westminster: We are looking to find a dedicated and organized Research Assistant to support our practice and conduct research in the field of retinal disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy and more. Our department is looking to expand the team where research coordinator will ensure successful coordination of clinical trials, patient data collection etc.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Management

  • Responsible to collect, maintain accurate and up-to-date patient and research data.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data finding
  • Conduct audits within the research department to ensure proper documentation and standard protocols are met, i.e. Good Clinical practice (GCP).
  • Ensure that all studies comply with ethical guidelines, local regulations and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements.
  • Maintain regular documentations of IRB submissions

Patient Support and Interaction

  • Educating patient about their involvement and what to expect in the visits, providing clear explanation of study procedures and potential risks.

Team collaboration and communication

  • Working with doctors and clinic staff and other research assistants in coordinating booking patients into the clinics.
  • Participate in regular meeting to discuss progress.

Qualifications:
Education

  • Clinical research coordinator (CRC) certification is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health care or related field is an asset but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 year of clinical research, preferably in ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial protocols, regulatory guidelines such as FDA, IRB and Good clinical practice (GCP).
  • Experience in screening patients, recruiting and data collection.
