QurCan Therapeutics is a forward-thinking biotech company harnessing next-generation nanoparticle technology for the advancement of genetic and biological therapeutics. We are excited to welcome motivated and innovative minds to our R&D site in Toronto. We're currently seeking a highly motivated Associate scientist with a MSc/PhD in neuroscience & molecular biology to be part of our dynamic product development team.

Position Overview:

As a Molecular Biology Research Associate/Associate Neuroscientist, you will contribute your expertise to our cutting-edge research in nucleic acid assay development. Collaborating within a cross-disciplinary team of scientists, you will tackle complex challenges in designing and conducting molecular biology, cell-based, and animal studies to evaluate therapeutic efficacy, safety, biodistribution, and mechanisms of action.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Design, plan, and execute in vitro and in vivo studies supporting the development of RNA therapeutics

- Evaluate novel siRNA and mRNA-based formulations using fluorescent and immunology-based assays in vitro and ex vivo
- Perform molecular and cellular biology assays to assess changes in gene and protein expression

- Conduct techniques such as quantitative PCR, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, immunocytochemistry, and related analytical assays.

- Implementation and refinement of protocols.

- Conducting RNA/DNA sequencing

- Conducting cell-based assays, which involve the cultivation and seeding of cell lines and primary cells, as well as executing transfection experiments

- Maintenance of meticulous lab records, regular data analysis, and contribution to shared records.

- Effective management of critical reagent inventories such as cells, media, and cytokines.

- Plan and conduct preclinical animal studies to evaluate therapeutic efficacy, safety, tolerability, biodistribution, and pharmacodynamic responses.

-Able to create high-throughput experimental designs, address technical challenges, analyze data, and communicate findings to teams effectively

Requirements:

- M.S./Ph.D. degree neuroscience and molecular biology

- Demonstrated experience evaluating gene and protein expression using relevant molecular and biochemical techniques.

- Having years of experience in siRNA and mRNA modifications and in-vitro studies

- Strong experience in cell culture, cell treatments, gene expression and silencing assays in mammalian cells lines.

- Experience processing tissues and assessing molecular, cellular, or histological changes.

- Strong scientific writing, data interpretation, presentation, and communication skills.

Preferred:

- MSc/PhD, recently graduated from a Canadian academic institution, with high enthusiasm in new scientific discoveries and trends in the biotechnology field.
