Full job description

Job Title: Full-Time Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

Employment Type: Term Position – Maternity Leave Coverage

Location: The Minor Illness and Injury clinic

Duration: 12-month with potential for extension.

Anticipated Shifts: Monday to Friday shifts will vary between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. 8:30 am-4:30 pm, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 11:30-7:30, and 12:00 pm to 8:00pm.

Anticipated Start Date: Beginning ofJuly.

Probationary Period: There will be a six-month probation period. If successful, annual renewals will be offered.

Salary: Starting at $18.00. After six-month probation period and successful will move up to $19.25; A modest benefit package will be provided after the six month probation period.

Reports To: Clinic Manager

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

· Ability to communicate respectfully and positively with patients and staff and presents self in an approachable and friendly manner.

· Ability to provide a welcoming, safe and supportive atmosphere to all individuals inquiring about our services.

· Understands and demonstrates a patient centered approach.

· Demonstrates effective active listening and communications skills.

· Ability to take initiative in handling routine matters and inquiries, demonstrating common sense and use of experience to develop potential solutions, understanding when to seek direction.

· Ensures that the privacy and confidentiality of staff and patient information and relationships are maintained.

· Is coachable and adaptable -- adjusts priorities and work goals as necessary while, maintaining a calm demeanor, when working under changing or unclear conditions.

· Is able to manage multiple duties and tasks effectively and efficiently.

· Works collaboratively in the context of a provincial organization, with numerous colleagues, to ensure a consistent approach.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Greet and check in patients in a professional and courteous manner

· Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries

· Schedule and confirm appointments

· Prepare and maintain patient medical records using EMR (Accuro)

· Maintain a clean and organized reception and workspace

· Assist with traffic flow

· Participate in regular office procedures including photocopying, faxing information, answering information requests

· Assisting physicians and nurses as needed

· Medical Equipment Processing

· Light cleaning duties

· Practice and always maintain professional conduct

· Support and follow all policies and procedures

· Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and professional ethics, integrity and responsibility.

Qualifications:

· Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant (MOA) program or equivalent experience

· Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred

· Proficiency in EMR systems, specifically Accuro

· Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage a varied workload efficiently

· Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude

· Excellent verbal and written communication

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

· Comfortable handling reception duties and interacting effectively with patients, staff, and the general public

· Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Ability to manage confidential material with discretion and professionalism

· Sensitivity and understanding when working with culturally diverse populations

· Successful completion of the PHIA Online Course is required prior to the start date

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$19.25 per hour
