About Beam Radiology

Beam Radiology is a physician-led, community-based diagnostic imaging and specialty care organization committed to compassionate patient care and service excellence for our referring practitioners. Our patients always come first.

We are an expanding diagnostic imaging practice located in Calgary, Alberta, offering a comprehensive range of services including general ultrasound, musculoskeletal and obstetrical imaging, interventional radiology, and pain management. Our subspecialty-trained radiologists work collaboratively with highly skilled sonographers, technologists, nurses, and clinical support staff to deliver exceptional care.

The Opportunity

Beam Radiology is recruiting Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to join our growing ultrasound team in casual, part-time, or full-time capacities. This role is essential to delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services while ensuring a professional, safe, and compassionate patient experience.

Successful candidates will work closely with radiologists and multidisciplinary clinical teams, contributing to efficient workflow and excellent clinical outcomes across Beam Radiology clinic locations.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Experience

  • Provide professional, compassionate, and patient-centered care
  • Anticipate and respond to patient anxieties, answering questions and maintaining a calm clinical environment
  • Obtain relevant patient history and educate patients on examination procedures
  • Review examinations for appropriateness and patient eligibility

Clinical & Technical Practice

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including:
  • Abdominal
  • Obstetrical
  • Pelvic
  • Small parts
  • Venous and carotid Doppler
  • Support for interventional procedures
  • Apply critical thinking skills when assessing complex pathologies
  • Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment while supporting efficient workflow

Collaboration & Professional Practice

  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of the diagnostic imaging team
  • Contribute to smooth workflow within the ultrasound department and across clinic departments

Assets (Not Required)

  • Experience inBreast Ultrasound and High-Risk Obstetrics Ultrasound
  • Experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound

Qualifications & Requirements

Required

  • Diploma or certificate from a recognized Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • Registration in good standing with Sonography Canada
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred

  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical or hospital-based ultrasound experience (considered an asset)

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Flexibility for occasional evening and/or weekend shifts
  • In-person role based at Beam Radiology clinics in Calgary
