Full job description

We are looking for an experienced, organized, and patient-focused Lead Dental Receptionist to join our dental team. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the front desk while ensuring an exceptional experience for every patient.

The ideal candidate is confident, professional, highly organized, and comfortable taking initiative. You will serve as a leader and resource for the reception team while working closely with the dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and office management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Front Desk Leadership

  • Lead and oversee daily front-desk operations.
  • Support, train, and mentor reception staff.
  • Ensure front-desk procedures and office protocols are followed consistently.
  • Coordinate communication between the front desk and clinical team.
  • Help resolve patient concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain a welcoming, professional, and positive reception environment.

Patient Scheduling & Coordination

  • Manage and optimize the appointment schedule.
  • Schedule new and existing patients efficiently.
  • Confirm appointments and follow up on cancellations and no-shows.
  • Coordinate treatment appointments and follow-ups along side our Treatment Cooridinator.
  • Maintain an efficient schedule while supporting the productivity of the dental team.
  • Provide patients with clear information regarding appointments, treatment, and office policies.

Team Supervision

  • Provide daily guidance and support to front-office team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new reception staff.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement efficient processes.
  • Lead by example and promote teamwork, accountability, and excellent customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous dental reception or dental administrative experience required.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of dental scheduling, insurance, billing, and treatment coordination.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Comfortable handling multiple priorities in a busy dental office.
  • Professional, friendly, and confident communication style.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient and financial information with discretion.
  • Experience with dental practice management software is an asset.
  • CDA or dental administration experience is an asset.
