Location: Turner Family Medical
Reports To: Family Physician / Clinic Manager

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Compensation: $31.00 – $34.00, based on experience, with the opportunity for a wage increase upon successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.

Flexible Start Date: August 17, 2026

Position Summary

Turner Family Medical is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dependable Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our busy family medicine practice. This hybrid role combines clinical nursing care with medical office administration, providing an excellent opportunity for an RPN who enjoys working directly with patients while contributing to the efficient operation of a family practice.

The successful candidate will be patient-focused, adaptable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, medical history, and identify patient health concerns.
  • Administer immunizations and injections.
  • Perform well-baby assessments and routine office procedures, including ear irrigation.
  • Assist the physician during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, and preventive healthcare.
  • Review and process laboratory and diagnostic results as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic medical records.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control standards and maintain a safe clinical environment.

Administrative Duties

  • Welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, respond to messages, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
  • Register new patients and maintain accurate demographic information.
  • Process specialist referrals and consultation requests.
  • Scan, upload, and organize documents within the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare medical forms, letters, and correspondence for physician review.
  • Process prescription renewal requests in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Receive, distribute, and manage incoming faxes and electronic communications.

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Current CPR certification is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Experience using PS Suite or another electronic medical record (EMR) system is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
