Full job description

Simcoe Medical Centre (SMC) is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant to join our team.
SMC is a family practice medical office that also provides urgent care to our patients located in North Oshawa (Taunton & Simcoe ST. N). The candidate must be people-oriented as we strive to provide the best patient care and feel that this care begins at the reception. The candidate must be always empathetic to our patient’s needs and be prepared to help physicians as needed.

Job duties include:

- Welcome patients to the clinic as they arrive for their medical appointments or walk-in

- Register patients by always checking that our system has their updated information

- Answering the phone in a timely manner, booking appointments, and answering any questions our patients may have

- Triage of patients, keeping a watchful eye on waiting room to ensure that patients are seen in order of importance

- Handling specimens and preparing them for lab pick-up

- Cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments

- Assisting the physicians when needed, taking vitals on patients as well as performing ECG's when needed

- Phlebotomy experience would be an asset

- Proficient in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and prior experience with TELUS EMR (PS suite) will be an asset

- Performing other administrative duties as required

-Ensuring patient confidentiality by maintaining a clean and organized reception area

Qualifications:

- Grade 12 or equivalent

- 2+ years of working experience in a similar environment

- 2+ years of Phlebotomy experience

-2+ years of ECG experience

- Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant program or experience in the field

- Provide optimal customer service to patients with a positive and friendly attitude

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Oshawa, ON L1G 4X8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Medical office: 2 years (preferred)
  • Electronic medical records (EMR): 2 years (preferred)
  • Phlebotomy: 2 years (required)
