Prism Eye Institute (PEI) has been serving the communities of North York, Brampton, Oakville/Mississauga and surrounding areas for over 50 years.

In 2020 North Toronto Eye Care (NTEC) merged with Prism Eye Institute, to form Prism Group Holdings (Prism), the largest Ophthalmology practice in Canada.

In 2022, PEI further strengthened a partnership with Vision Group Canada (VGC) and is working to expand its footprint nationally. VGC operates over 50 clinics and 70 surgical facilities performing over 100,000 procedures annually.

PEI is an internationally renowned institute with 5 facilities and 2 surgical centres, serving over 200,000 patients and perform 10,000 surgeries each year. Prism is a centre of excellence providing a full spectrum of eye care and recognized for handling some of the most complex eye diseases in the world.

Tasks:

  • Greet patients professionally and empathetically while maintaining confidentiality in all interactions
  • Register patients, obtain informed consent, and complete intake forms including medical histories
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments using EMR systems and coordinate with clinical teams to support smooth workflow
  • Provide patients with information regarding procedures, wait times, insurance coverage, and out-of-pocket costs
  • Verify OHIP eligibility and support insurance claim documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records
  • Respond to patient, physician, pharmacy, and hospital inquiries via phone, email, and EMR messaging systems
  • Coordinate surgical bookings, prepare surgical charts, and support pre- and post-operative documentation and instructions
  • Assist with surgical logistics including ordering supplies, medical devices, and intraocular lenses
  • Support operating room preparation including case file assembly and data entry into hospital systems (EPIC/PICIS)
  • Operate diagnostic equipment (e.g., biometry) and communicate results to patients under clinical direction
  • Provide patient education including medication guidance and surgical preparation instructions
  • Support administrative functions including document management, reporting, scheduling, and inventory control
  • Assist with staff training and workflow support as required
  • Maintain clean, organized patient care and waiting areas
  • Perform additional administrative and clinical support duties as assigned
