Full job description

Are you looking to work in a fast paced environment and are detail-oriented and organized? We are looking for a Medical Office Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in the smooth operation of our busy medical office by providing administrative support and excellent patient care.

Please note that this is NOT a virtual position and you must be able to work physically at our location in Nanaimo, B.C. Canada.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is capable of working in a fast paced and very busy environment. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail oriented and has the ability to function well in a high volume environment. The ability to work five full days per week is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Organize and schedule appointments
  • Plan and coordinate medical appointments
  • Write and distribute correspondence, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms

Skills
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems or willingness to learn the system.
  • Ability to respond independently and effectively to emergent situations and effectively present health information to individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with coworkers, patients and staff from other healthcare agencies.
  • Experience in a fast-paced office environment is required.

Due to the high volume of applicants please do NOT apply if you are unable to fulfill our need for full-time hours, i.e. Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (sometimes 7:00 p.m. dependent on staff holidays/illness).
