Optometric Assistant & Clinical Technician

The Role

We are seeking a highly organized and technically inclined Optometric Assistant. This is a dynamic, hybrid role that balances patient-facing clinical duties with hands-on technical work in our lab. The ideal candidate is a fast learner with strong mechanical aptitude who takes pride in the precision of their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support: Conduct preliminary testing and updating Electronic Medical Records (EMR) with accuracy.
  • Patient Coordination: Facilitate a seamless patient flow, from professional check-in to exam room preparation.
  • Optical Consultation: Educate patients on lens technologies and assist with high-end frame selections, ensuring a comfortable and tailored experience.
  • Administrative Excellence: Manage appointment scheduling, verify insurance, and maintain a meticulously organized clinical environment.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Technical Aptitude: Exceptional hand-eye coordination and a "hands-on" approach to troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Organizational Mastery: The ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
  • Learning Agility: A proven track record of mastering new technology and medical protocols quickly.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a medical or optical setting (specifically with File EMR) is an asset, though we will provide comprehensive training for a candidate who demonstrates the right technical and cultural fit.

Position Details

  • Location: Ability to work at both our Guelph and Rockwood offices.
  • Schedule: Full-time, including some evening and Saturday shifts
