About Us

Passionate Nursing academy is a growing private career college dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in healthcare. We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Health Unit Clerk Instructor to join our team and help train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Position Summary

The Health Unit Clerk Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging classroom and/or online instruction, evaluating student performance, and supporting student success throughout the program. The successful candidate will teach theory and practical components of the Health Unit Clerk program and prepare students for employment in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and other healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Health Unit Clerk curriculum in classroom, online, and laboratory settings.
  • Teach courses including:
  • Medical Terminology
  • Pharmacology
  • Healthcare Communication
  • Treatment Orders
  • Medication Orders
  • Laboratory Orders
  • Diagnostic and Surgical Orders
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Develop and administer quizzes, assignments, practical exercises, and examinations.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records.
  • Create a positive, professional, and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in curriculum review and program improvement initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development activities as required.

QualificationsRequired

  • Diploma or Degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent healthcare experience.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, healthcare documentation, and physician order processing.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
  • Experience working as a Health Unit Clerk, Unit Clerk, Medical Office Assistant, LPN, RN, or other healthcare professional.
  • Experience with hospital information systems and electronic medical records.

Technical Requirements

  • Proficient in using Moodle for course delivery, grading, attendance, and student communication.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other online learning platforms is an asset.
