Full job description

A private secretary / administrative assistant is required for a university based surgical practice. This post is for an eighteen (18) months period starting Thursda February 19th, 2026 ending Friday September, 10th 2027. The practice serves a complex population of children with ear, nose and throat problems and operates from the Stollery Children’s Hospital (University of Alberta). This is a single surgeon practice, the surgeon being involved heavily in academic pursuits (teaching, training and research). Excellent organizational and public relation skills in addition to secretarial attributes are required. Prior experience in the medical field is preferred. Administrative Responsibilities:

1. Manage Surgeon’s Schedule/Calendar

2. Coordinate Surgical Bookings

3. Schedule Clinic Consultations and Follow-Ups

5. Prepare and distribute clinical academic and correspondence

6. Academic and service program support

7. Software Knowledge: Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar), Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, Connect Care
