Job Summary

Skin Physicians Dermatology Clinic located in South West Edmonton - seeking an experienced Biologic Coordinator & Medical Office Assistant in our fast-paced clinics. We are seeking someone who can work independently, and as a team in a multidisciplinary environment. Must be organized, have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

Responsibility’s include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient Navigation: Acting as the bridge between the prescribing doctor, the patient, and the pharmacy to ensure seamless administration of complex biologic therapies.
  • Insurance & Reimbursement: Navigating public (e.g., Alberta Blue Cross) and private drug insurance plans to secure coverage.
  • Clinical Monitoring: Working alongside nurses and physicians to track patient progress, medication adherence, and side effects.
  • Clinic Coordination: Handling appointment bookings, infusion scheduling, and product supply chains.
  • Greeting patients upon arrival; booking, confirming and re-scheduling appointments as necessary
  • Handling high volume patient intake
  • Ensuring that all phone calls, emails and other forms of communication, queries and concerns are answered and re-directed as necessary
  • Facilitate communications between patients and health care professionals
  • Coordinating collection of payments for uninsured services and issue of appropriate receipts for documentation Prioritizing and completing tasks according to urgency

Secondary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assign patients to Exam rooms
  • Transcribe and process physician orders
  • Review and process incoming faxes and other documentation related to referrals, recalls and consultations
  • Appropriately access and review patient reports and results; Patient filing methods and record keeping
  • Transfer and or update patient files as needed
  • Complete forms and documentation related to specimens, tests, etc.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Complete patient registration, appointment bookings, re-bookings, cancellations and necessary
  • Assist and prepare exam rooms
  • Cleaning duties as necessary
  • Other duties as required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Developed problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proven ability to work in a face paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task; time management & organization skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing focused patient care

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Some experience in Biologic Coordination is required
  • At least 2 years of medical office assistant experience in a medical or dermatology clinic is required
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology is required
  • Experience with Med-Access EMR is an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software & applications is an asset
