Full job description

Who We Are:

Taiv is a fast-growing tech startup located in Winnipeg, Canada. Taiv uses AI to make business TV more fun, engaging, profitable, and easier to manage, starting with bars and restaurants. We've built proprietary tech that uses computer vision to watch live TV and improve the content with contextually-aware commercials, content, and games. Our tech also automates the manual AV tasks that venues have to do every day, to make bar management easier, standardized, and more profitable. We're venture-capital backed and graduated from Y Combinator, the world's top tech accelerator, in winter 2020. Program alumni include Airbnb, Instacart, DoorDash, etc. (www.ycombinator.com/topcompanies).

We are looking for a Research & Insights Manager to join our growing team!

What We're Looking For:

This role owns the proof behind Taiv's sales story. When a brand runs a campaign with us, you're the person who makes sure we measure it properly, working with outside measurement companies to design each study, keep it on schedule, and bring the results back in. Then you turn those results into case studies and sales narratives that give a media buyer a reason to spend. You'll also go find the data we don't have yet: industry stats, audience research, and original studies our sellers can cite in every pitch.

Advertisers are getting more rigorous about what they'll believe, and the companies that can show real results win the budget. That work does not exist at Taiv in one dedicated seat yet, so you'll be building it. You'll present findings back to advertisers yourself, and you'll become the person everyone here goes to when they need a number they can defend.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Manage post-campaign measurement studies from start to finish. Work with measurement vendors to design each study properly, keep it on schedule, and ingest the results when they land.

  • Turn study results into case studies and sales narratives. You'll work with our designer to make them client-ready, and help present findings back to advertisers.

  • Find and commission the data that strengthens Taiv's sales story: industry stats, audience research, and original studies our sellers can cite in every pitch.

  • Become an expert on the TV and advertising industry. Read the trade publications daily and share the most useful research and articles with the sales team.

  • Spot where our story is thin before a seller runs into it in a meeting, and close the gap.

  • Arm our sellers. When someone needs a stat, a proof point, or a chart for a pitch, you're the person who finds it or builds it.

Who You Are:

  • You have quantitative rigor. You can read a lift study, understand test versus control, and spot when a result is weak or a methodology is flawed.

  • You tell stories with data. You can take a study result and turn it into a reason for a media buyer to spend.

  • You write clearly. You make complicated results easy for a busy seller or client to understand.

  • You manage vendors and projects well. You can keep multiple studies with multiple measurement companies on track at once.

  • You are deeply curious and self-directed. You'll actually enjoy reading ad trade press daily, and you'll become an industry expert fast.

  • You have real attention to detail. One wrong number in a case study kills our credibility with a client.

  • You are genuinely comfortable with AI tools and use them to work faster and better, not as a crutch.

Your Qualifications:

  • 1-4 years in an analytical role. The specific industry matters less than the muscle: marketing analytics, market research, media, consulting, finance, or even a strong data-heavy ops role all work.

  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills. You'll be ingesting study results, converting mismatched vendor metrics into apples-to-apples comparisons, and building the numbers behind our case studies.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate data clearly. Come ready to show us a report, deck, or dashboard you actually made. This is the storytelling half of the job and it's the harder half.

  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field, or equivalent evidence that you can handle research methodology.

Nice To Have:

  • Ad measurement experience: brand lift, foot traffic, attribution, or tune-in studies. Anyone who has touched these will hit the ground running, but it isn't a requirement. The vendors carry the methodology.

  • SQL or a scripting language (Python or R). Useful on the ingestion side, and teachable if you don't have it yet.

  • Media or advertising industry exposure of any kind, even at the agency internship level. It speeds up the ramp to becoming our industry expert.

  • Experience managing external vendors or agencies.

Perks:

  • Employee stock options

  • 100% employer-covered health benefits

  • Flex-time & unlimited paid vacation

  • Gym membership

  • Catered lunches 3x per week

  • Dog-friendly office

  • Hybrid work model

  • Free parking on-site

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Salary: $58,000 - $75,000 per year + stock options

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • Ability to commute: can reliably commute to the office (required)
