The Position

Effective October 26, 2026, a one-year Locum Hospitalist position is available at Holland Bloorview. This is an exciting opportunity to join Canada's leading pediatric rehabilitation hospital and work within a highly collaborative interprofessional team dedicated to helping children and youth with disabilities achieve their fullest potential. This position offers predominantly daytime practice with limited after-hours commitments. On-call responsibilities are shared across the team and typically consist of approximately one to two weekday evenings per month and two to three weekends per year, supporting a balance between meaningful clinical work, academic interests, and personal wellbeing.

We are recruiting a Developmental Paediatrician, General Paediatrician, or Complex Care Physician with an interest in caring for children and youth with developmental disabilities, rehabilitation needs, neurological conditions, and medical complexity. The successful candidate will provide inpatient care while contributing to a collaborative model of family-centred care and have opportunities to participate in teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and other academic activities aligned with their interests.

Holland Bloorview is known for its supportive practice environment, where physicians work closely with nurses, therapists, psychologists, pharmacists, social workers, educators, researchers, and families to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and youth.

The successful applicant must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Paediatrics (or equivalent). Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Role accountabilities will be divided into approximately 80% clinical time and 20% academic time.
• Provide inpatient medical care to children and youth throughout their rehabilitation stay.
• Collaborate with an interprofessional team to develop and implement family-centred care plans.
• Participate in inpatient hospitalist coverage and on-call responsibilities.
• Contribute to quality improvement, educational, or scholarly initiatives.
• Participate in the teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and other learners.
• Support safe transitions of care between hospital and community settings.
• Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to optimize client outcomes

Qualifications

Licence/Membership

• Certification in Paediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
• Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto.
• Subspecialty residency or fellowship training in Developmental Paediatrics or Complex Care is considered an asset but is not required.

Experience

• Experience in providing paediatric care to children and youth with disabilities.

• Experience working within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment is an asset.

Communication

• Effective communication, conflict resolution, networking, and negotiation skills.

Academic activities may be tailored to the physician's interests and experience and may include teaching, program development, quality improvement, research, or scholarship.
