We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Law Clerk with Tort Litigation experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who takes pride in their work, enjoys managing files from inception to trial, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of injured clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage plaintiff personal injury tort files from intake through settlement or trial.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, affidavits, applications, undertakings, refusals charts, mediation briefs, pre-trial briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Coordinate discoveries, mediations, pre-trials, independent medical examinations, and trial scheduling.
  • Prepare and maintain litigation records, productions, and document briefs.
  • Review and organize medical, employment, and collateral benefit records.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, counsel, insurers, medical professionals, and experts.
  • Track limitation periods, litigation deadlines, and court schedules.
  • File court documents electronically and manage matters through Case Centre and other court platforms.
  • Maintain accurate electronic files using Clio & Supio.
  • Assist lawyers with trial preparation, including witness coordination and document organization.
  • Conduct client interviews and gather information necessary for advancing claims.
  • Support settlement negotiations by preparing damages summaries and document packages.

Requirements

  • Law Clerk diploma or equivalent legal education.
  • Minimum 3 years of plaintiff personal injury tort litigation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and personal injury litigation processes.
  • Experience drafting litigation documents independently.
  • Familiarity with Case Centre, Clio, Supio, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active files.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience preparing mediation and pre-trial materials is considered a strong asset.
  • Trial preparation experience is an asset.
