Overview

TrustyMed Medical Clinic is a modern, multidisciplinary clinic offering family medicine, walk-in, and specialty care in a rapidly growing community. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our clinical team. This role plays a vital part in supporting patient care through accurate sample collection, preparation, and coordination of lab services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process biological samples, including blood, urine, and swabs
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures and ensure proper specimen labelling
  • Prepare lab requisitions and ensure proper handling for transport
  • Conduct routine point-of-care tests and assist with test coordination
  • Document findings accurately and communicate results to physicians
  • Maintain inventory, lab equipment, and ensure clean, safe workspaces
  • Follow infection control and biohazard safety protocols
  • Use OSCAR PRO EMR to manage lab orders and documentation
  • Manage incoming/outgoing lab reports, faxes, and follow-ups
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to lab and clinic support

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technician/Assistant program
  • Proof of certification (e.g., MLPAO, CSMLS, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical or hospital lab setting preferred
  • Proficient in phlebotomy techniques and patient interaction
  • Familiarity with OSCAR PRO EMR (required)
  • Experience with OCEAN eReferral platform is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of lab safety, quality control, and medical terminology
  • Attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Requirements

  • Proof of certification
  • Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
  • Criminal background check
  • Professional references
