We are looking for a Claims Advisor Trainee to join our team in our Toronto office!

As a Claims Advisor Trainee, you will play a key supporting role within the Claims team, gaining hands-on experience across the full-claim lifecycle while developing the skills to manage claims independently over time. Working closely with experienced advisors, you will assist in the set-up and administration of new claims, support documentation and reporting requirements, and contribute to ensuring timely, fair, and accurate claim resolution for clients.

In this role, you will be exposed to the core responsibilities of a Claims Advisor, including acting as a liaison between clients, insurers, and other stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of guidance throughout the claims process. You will help maintain accurate records, coordinate claim-related information, and support day-to-day operational activities, while building foundational knowledge of coverage, claims handling, and client service.

This position operates in a multi-line environment, with exposure to property, casualty, and auto claims, as well as opportunities to develop niche expertise in areas such as aviation and equine. This is a hybrid role with an expectation of working in the office four (4) days per week.

Your day as a Claims Advisor Trainee

  • Assist in setting up new claims by reviewing policies, identifying applicable coverages, and preparing loss notices, supporting timely reporting to insurers.
  • Support the analysis of coverages, including exclusions, limits, and deductibles, and assist clients with below-deductible claims.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of losses by helping identify the proximate cause, estimating damages, and coordinating vendors as required.
  • Assist in conducting claims and coverage analysis, supporting the development of solutions to coverage-related issues.
  • Support communication with adjusters, examiners, insurers, and internal stakeholders to monitor claim status, reserves, and next steps.
  • Provide support in maintaining regular communication with clients, including status updates and information gathering.
  • Assist with the preparation of loss history reports and bordereaux, as well as participation in claims reviews, as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim files and documentation within internal systems, ensuring information is complete and appropriately distributed.
  • Support administrative and operational activities, including drafting correspondence, coordinating payments, managing mail, and maintaining organized filing systems.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, insurers, adjusters, and service providers.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

Our ideal candidate

  • Minimum 1 year of industry-related experience.
  • RIBO Licensed preferred; must be willing to get licensed if not already.
  • Pursuing CIP, CRM certifications is an asset.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in a variety of coverage areas.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently, as part of a team and with others throughout the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Word and Excel.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Customer focused and service oriented.
  • Attention to detail and precision essential.
  • Able and willing to work under pressure when needed.
  • Desire to work in a high-performance environment.

The expected salary for this role ranges from $65,000$ to 85,000$ . Annual salary will be determined by factors including prior experience, location, business segment, and relevance of the candidate’s skills to the role.
