Qualifications – Ontario Healthcare Facility

• Diploma in Health Information Management from a CHIMA-accredited program, or currently enrolled with student/associate CHIMA membership
• Canadian College of Health Information Management certification with active CHIMA membership
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CA and CCI coding, medical terminology, and statistical interpretation
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Strong clerical, typing, filing, and interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements, including PHIPA
• Transcription experience is preferred
• Job Type: Independent Contractor – Full-Time

• Pay Rate: $40/hr

Responsibilities:
Health Records Technicians are responsible for maintaining accurate, secure, and accessible health information. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Coding, abstracting, and submitting DAD and NACRS data in accordance with CIHI standards and provincial/organizational guidelines
• Supporting data quality and accuracy within patient health records
• Completing transcription and processing requests for release of information
• Maintaining and managing health records in accordance with record retention requirements
• Ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, including PHIPA
• Supporting patient safety, service delivery, and accreditation standards

Note: Duties may vary slightly based on facility and department, with specific guidance provided during site orientation.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant Health Records or Health Information Management experience
• Experience with ICD-10-CA and CCI coding
• Transcription experience is preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and statistical interpretation
• Experience working with confidential patient information
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
