Department: Imaging Division

Reports To: Managing Director, Imaging Division

Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent

Location: Head Office, 90 Royal Crest Court, Markham, ON L3R 9X6

Overview:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Product Manager determines the vision and strategy for all goods and services within their portfolio. They translate the business strategy into a product strategy. Their role articulates the value and benefit of their brand(s) & assortments to the organization and its customers. They own the roadmap in all aspects of guiding product success, collaborating with vendors and cross-functional peers to achieve company objectives. They execute responsibilities in marketing, forecasting, and product P+L as it pertains to inventory performance and brand profitability. The product manager combines a blend of education, skill and field experience to find success in their role. Their passion represents a genuine interest in creating and improving the products we provide to our customers.

Strategy:

The PM provides substantial subject matter expertise to make strategic decisions on behalf of Gentec and the brand(s) for which they are responsible. They analyze market conditions & competitive influences, while determining a go-to-market vision that delivers unique value specific to customer demands. The role will pivot between many activities that vary between strategic and tactical in nature, while providing leadership to supporting resources in sales, operations and marketing. As often as possible, the PM embraces evidence-based observations and recommendations in their communication to vendor partners and Gentec management. Their strategic thinking demonstrates a strong understanding of market trends, user needs, and business goals to define product strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive action through the organization to get products to market
  • Research, plan and execute all product launches
  • Manage all aspects of product maintenance and life cycle from onboarding to exit, including customer feedback, troubleshooting, and quality control
  • Perform forecasting and maintain reporting to support vendor, customer and internal stakeholders
  • Own the purchasing process by creating and maintaining buy-plans for your brands
  • Manage inventory performance to achieve objectives in turns, aging and profitability
  • Develop and maintain outstanding supplier relationships, to support best outcomes with price negotiation, delivery and terms
  • Actively support new business development, including evaluation of new vendors and/or 3rd party products
  • Support marketing activity by providing insights on key differentiators and messages
  • Develop and present training content to Gentec Sales Representatives or Dealer employees as required
  • Provide excellent communication to vendors, customers and company peers, including the authoring of new product/sales releases & updates during all stages of product lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain superior knowledge of product portfolio, to provide the highest level of expertise possible inside (or outside, if required) the organization.

Buying shows and Dealer Events:

  • Lead the process of product selection, samples, fixturing, and marketing materials for you brands
  • Suggest manpower requirements
  • Participate and organize the pack & wrap of all material and products required for Buying shows and Dealer Events.
  • Collaborate with all aspects of booth design, location, and size

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a product specialist or manager in a related field
  • Strong technical capability to quickly master product function & operation
  • Experience with planning, sourcing material, identifying supporting vendors, and organizing corporate events/shows/conferences.
  • Proven time management skills that demonstrate the ability to be proactive and meet deadlines with little supervision
  • Ability to work in a wide team environment with a focus on collaboration
  • Ability to identify and solve simple or complex problems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Confident public speaker that is comfortable presenting live or creating recorded content
  • Photography experience/enthusiasm is an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset
  • College/University education in marketing or business administration is preferred but consideration will be made for industry experience and competence

Computer proficiency:

  • Microsoft Excel / Word / Outlook / PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Co-Pilot or similar AI learning tools
