Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our multidisciplinary pediatric team. The successful candidate will assist physicians and healthcare professionals in daily clinical operations to deliver exceptional patient care and support.

Currently hiring for the Developmental and General Pediatrics Team. Mental health experience or a strong interest in pediatric mental health and developmental care is required.

New graduates are welcome to apply- mentorship and training will be provided.

About Us: Dr. Samim Pediatric and Adolescent Care (DSPAC) is a community-based pediatric practice serving children, youth, and families across Southwestern Ontario and beyond- through both in-person and virtual care.

Our practice is a key part of the regional child and youth health and safety system, providing high-quality, family-centered care. We address not only medical needs but also the broader determinants of health- supporting children and families in their homes, schools, and communities.

We work in three main clinical teams- Developmental, Neonatal, and General Pediatrics- and offer several Focused Assessment Clinics, including:

  • Asthma and Respiratory Allergies Clinic
  • Autism Spectrum Comprehensive Care Clinic
  • Elimination Disorder Clinic
  • Pediatric Skin Disease Clinic
  • Healthy Heart Clinic (for asymptomatic children with abnormal cardiac findings)
  • Developmental and Mental Health Clinic
  • Periodic Children’s Health Program (for marginalized families or those facing financial or transportation barriers)

DSPAC is a busy and fast-paced environment where collaboration, compassion, and excellence in pediatric care are central to everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support physicians and team members in the smooth operation of the clinic and delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Conduct intake assessments, review symptoms, medications, and relevant medical history with patients and families
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions in the EMR
  • Prepare, send, and fax requisitions, referrals, and medication requests as directed by the physician
  • Review and update immunization records; administer childhood vaccinations in accordance with age-appropriate guidelines or Ontario’s catch-up schedule and maintain accurate documentation
  • Perform vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, respiratory rate, height, and weight
  • Assist patients with health assessment questionnaires (e.g., anxiety or developmental screenings)
  • Support neonatal procedures, including circumcisions and tongue-tie releases, by assisting physicians and preparing required equipment
  • Perform simple procedures such as ear flushing and wart treatments under physician guidance
  • Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards, ensuring equipment is sanitized and hazardous materials are disposed of safely
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and a child- and family-centered approach in all interactions

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) (Required)
  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) designation (Required)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; experience in a physician’s office or pediatric setting preferred
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply; training and orientation will be provided
  • Proficiency with Accuro EMR and Microsoft Office (asset)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to multitask in a busy clinical setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of infection prevention, safety, and patient confidentiality standards
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Compassionate, patient, and skilled in working with children and families
