Biomed is hiring for the position of Human Resource Officer!

Biomed Recovery & Disposal Ltd.is the largest medical waste company in Saskatchewan. We are a growing waste management company based in Aberdeen, SK, only 20 minutes north of Saskatoon. As the Human Resource (HR) Officer, you will be an integral part of our management team. Working as a liaison between management and employees, the HR Officer is responsible for ensuring company-wide compliance with various workplace laws and regulations, bridging communication gaps between management and employees, and assisting employee-related management decisions.

As the HR Officer, you will work to assist our management team to coordinate, manage, and direct all aspects of the employment process. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Facilitating the recruitment process through screening resumes and applications, contacting applicants, scheduling interviews, creating and sending employment offers, ensuring interview and interview questions align with current legislation and labour laws, checking job references, and developing, maintaining, and implementing recruitment and selection-related policies and procedures.
  • Facilitating the onboarding process by ensuring all new employees are provided required paperwork and/or forms, the Employee Handbook, as well as position-related standard operating procedures and policies. Setting up new employees on UAttend and QuickBooks.
  • Acting as a liaison between Biomed and Sun Life in the administration of our employee benefits program. This involves enrolling new members, adjusting member information, and assisting employees with various benefits-related questions and requests.
  • Monitor employee timecards and attendance, answering timecard and payroll related questions from employees, and assisting the Accounting department in administering payroll.
  • Assist employees with work-related issues, maintaining strong employee motivation and organization by bridging communication gaps between employees and management.
  • Work to ensure management visions and expectations are communicated to employees through workplace policies and procedures and that these policies and procedures align with relevant legal requirements.
  • Maintain a formal Employee Handbook.
  • Assist management to determine disciplinary courses of action and work to ease the termination and separation processes for both employees and management.
  • Work closely with the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and the Process Management/Safety Officer to ensure company compliance with OH&S standards. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining a record of employee training and scheduling employee training as required.

This position requires a team member who demonstrates excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. A high level of confidentiality and professionalism is required, as this position works closely with management to achieve organizational goals as well as with employees through private matters or concerns. The HR Officer must be diligent and hold knowledge of various employment standards as well as the ability to apply these standards to both existing and impending corporate and employment policies and procedures. The HR Officer must demonstrate exceptional dependability and reliability and must be able to cooperate and work in a team environment.

Human Resource and/or Business related educational experience may be considered an asset, but is not a requirement of a successful candidate.

This position requires 40 hours of work per week. Hourly wage adjusts with and reflects skill and experience.
