Full job description
At Wyloo, we believe in a future that is truly sustainable – where technology unlocks new horizons and green energy preserves our planet for every generation to come. We are committed to enabling a safe supply of high-grade critical materials from extraction to processing, using the highest standards of environmental sustainability that make our operations the benchmark for mines of the future. Through our partnerships with local and First Nation communities, we ensure our success means progress for everyone. We have assets in Australia, mining projects in Canada, and a strong growth pipeline with exploration across both countries.
In Canada, Wyloo is advancing its flagship Eagle’s Nest Project in the Ring of Fire region of northern Ontario, one of the best, undeveloped high-grade nickel, copper and platinum group element deposits in the world. Our Ring of Fire portfolio also includes world-class chromite deposits. In addition, we are evaluating the potential development of a downstream battery materials facility in City of Greater Sudbury. Wyloo’s Canadian projects are supported by offices in Toronto and Thunder Bay.
You can find out more about us on our website at Wyloo.com
Your opportunity at Wyloo
Our Senior Officer, Health & Safety will play a central role in the safe establishment and delivery of the Esker Project, providing practical Health & Safety leadership, operational assurance and emergency response capability across exploration, site establishment and project activities in a remote northern Ontario environment. The role is based on site at Esker, working on a 15 days on, 13 days off rotation.
Working closely with leaders, workers and contractors, you’ll help embed Wyloo's Health & Safety Management System on the ground, support contractor mobilisation, verify that critical controls are in place and working and maintain readiness across the site. You will also provide operational coverage for the Manager, Health & Safety during rostered absences, ensuring continuity of the Health & Safety function through key project phases.
Why this role matters
This is a foundational period for the project, and the way we establish our Health & Safety culture now will shape how we operate for years to come. Your presence in the field, your influence with contractors and your judgement in dynamic conditions will directly protect our people and support the safe progression of one of the world's most significant critical minerals developments.
What you’ll bring to Wyloo
You bring at least 5 years of operational Health & Safety experience within mining, exploration, construction or remote project environments, along with a diploma or tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline. Your working knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety legislation is strong and you have a track record of implementing Health & Safety Management Systems, facilitating contractor mobilisation and onboarding and leading inspections, audits and critical control verification in the field. You hold current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, an Emergency Response Team qualification (or the ability to obtain and maintain competency), and a valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
You’re practical, hands-on and comfortable taking ownership of your work in a small, collaborative team. You’re organised and thoughtful and use sound judgement in dynamic conditions, coach and influence with confidence.
You work well independently and alongside others, building trusted relationships with leaders, workers, contractors and community partners. You communicate clearly, exercise good judgement under pressure, and approach your work with integrity, respect, resilience and a genuine commitment to keeping people safe.
Why you’ll love working at Wyloo
Wyloo is a values-driven organisation committed to responsible development and building strong teams. We operate in a fast-moving and evolving environment, where people are trusted to take ownership, manage competing priorities and apply sound judgement as things develop.
We offer competitive remuneration, genuine flexibility, paid parental leave, wellbeing initiatives, professional development opportunities and a range of employee benefits and support services to help you grow and support life outside of work.
We believe in the potential of every individual and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where people feel respected, supported, and valued. Diverse perspectives make us stronger, and we encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including Indigenous Peoples, women, persons with disabilities, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
What’s next?
If this role aligns with your experience and the way you like to work, we’d welcome your application and if you require any adjustments during the recruitment process, let us know.
To our valued recruitment partners, our People & Culture team are looking after this vacancy. If we need you to connect us with talent, we’ll reach out.
