Full job description

We're a family dental office in Abbotsford, been here over 40 years. We need a chairside assistant on Saturdays and we'll train you from scratch. If you've done hands-on work, a kitchen, a vet clinic, a salon, a lab, and you're calm around nervous people, that's the part we can't teach. We teach the dental part.

Hours

Saturday 8:00am to 4:30pm every week. That part is fixed.

Want more? There are weekday shifts Monday to Thursday, roughly 10:00am to 7:00pm, once you're up to speed. Optional, not required.

Full time is Tuesday to Thursday plus Saturday, four days.

Fridays and Sundays off either way.

If you've got a weekday job and want one steady day, or you want to find out if dental is for you before paying for a program, this is a good way in.

The job

You work next to the dentist. Set up the room, pass instruments, keep the patient comfortable, then clean up and reset for the next one. We teach all of it. It's close-up work in people's mouths, so it's not for the squeamish. You'll be corrected a lot in the first few months, and you need to be fine with that.

What you get

$22.00 to $24.00 an hour. You start at the low end while you learn.

Training one thing at a time. Nobody gets thrown in.

We pay for approved courses. We've put an assistant through dental assisting school before, and for the right person we'd do it again.

Dental benefits, expanding at 3, 6 and 12 months.

Parking on site.

Wage reviews as you take on more.

A big team with lots of support, and most of us have been here a long time.
