Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Physical Therapy Aide to join our team. As a Physical Therapy Aide, you will assist in providing patient care and support to individuals undergoing physical therapy treatments. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a healthcare setting and contribute to improving patients' quality of life.

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time (Casual, with opportunity for full-time in the future)

Duties
- Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients
- Prepare treatment areas and equipment for therapy sessions
- Guide patients through prescribed exercises and activities
- Monitor and report patient progress to the supervising physical therapist
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the therapy area
- Provide support and encouragement to patients during therapy sessions

Skills
- Experience or interest in working in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of patient care practices and medical terminology
- Ability to assist in acute care situations

-Reliability, initiative, and a team-oriented attitude
- Strong communication skills and empathy towards patients
- Physical stamina to assist patients with mobility exercises

Education

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, physiotherapy assistant,Exercise Science, or related field

Diploma in a related field or equivalent education

First Aid / CPR (Health Care Provider Level C) is an asset

Conditions of Employment

Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications

Experience

Comfortable with counselling patients in a 1-on-1 setting regarding physical activity, exercise prescription

Experience working with patients suffering from chronic disease and pain

Assets

Experience in needs assessments, program development, and evaluation

Experience using an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system

Additional certifications or training in group fitness, biomechanical assessment, or chronic disease management

Working Conditions

Occasional evening and weekend hours required.

Ability to work at multiple different sites including clinic and recreation settings.

Ability to lead and engage in low-moderate intensity physical activity classes

Ability to move various fitness-related equipment.

Work involves sitting, standing, lifting, demonstrating exercises with/without equipment.
