This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the Canadian transportation industry, takes pride in maintaining accurate compliance records, and enjoys working closely with drivers and operational teams. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the company’s safety programs and ensuring our drivers and equipment remain compliant with applicable Canadian and US transportation requirements.
This is not an entry-level administrative position. Applicants must have directly related experience in commercial transportation safety or fleet compliance.
What You Will Do
- Maintain accurate and complete driver qualification, training and compliance files.
- Monitor driver documentation, licence validity, medicals, abstracts, permits and other expiry-sensitive records.
- Support compliance with the Canada Labour Code, National Safety Code, CVOR, hours-of-service and other applicable transportation requirements.
- Review electronic logs and hours-of-service records, identify potential violations and follow up on required corrections.
- Assist with US DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements for cross-border operations.
- Support driver onboarding, orientations, training and ongoing safety communication.
- Monitor driver performance, inspection results, violations, collisions and other safety-related activity.
- Assist with collision and incident investigations, documentation and follow-up.
- Prepare reports and supporting documentation for internal reviews, regulatory audits and insurance requirements.
- Help maintain company safety policies, procedures and training records.
- Communicate professionally with drivers, managers, regulatory agencies and external service providers.
- Identify compliance concerns promptly and escalate significant issues to the Director of Safety and Compliance.
- Support additional safety and compliance initiatives as required.
What You Bring
- A minimum of two years of directly related experience in safety or compliance within a commercial trucking or transportation environment.
- Working knowledge of CVOR, National Safety Code requirements, hours-of-service rules and commercial driver qualification requirements.
- Experience maintaining driver files and reviewing electronic logs or ELD records.
- Exposure to US DOT and FMCSA requirements for cross-border trucking is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting transportation audits, collision investigations or corrective actions is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence addressing compliance concerns professionally with drivers and operational leaders.
- Strong organization, follow-through and time-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn transportation and compliance systems.
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
- A recognized transportation safety or compliance designation is considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of directly related commercial transportation experience and education will be considered.
Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
Benefits:
