About BHP Potash – Jansen

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.


Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. To find out more about Potash and the Jansen project, click here.

Work Location

This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The work schedule for this role will be seven days on, seven days off. For those not living locally, BHP provides relocation assistance to the local Jansen area. Alternatively, you can enjoy the convenience and comfort of our onsite camp accommodation at Discovery Lodge during your shifts.


BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.


Purpose

We are excited to share that we are recruiting for permanent Surface and Underground positions for Journeyperson Electricians and Instrumentation for our Jansen Mine.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
  • Willingly embed yourself into BHP’s Operating System, culture and ways of working.
  • Carry out unplanned and planned routine maintenance, inspections, and checks to processing equipment.
  • Carry out planned maintenance tasks using standardized work technology to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in resolution of electrical / mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and availability.
  • Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history.
  • Transport cable and equipment safely to job locations, and assist in the set up and installation.
  • Provide trade skills to perform care maintenance tasks within the surface processing areas, to ensure overall reliability and stability.
  • Develop and revise maintenance procedures to continuously improve and standardize maintenance processes.
  • Perform switching and isolation of various types of electrical equipment.

About You

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician, Instrumentation & Control Technician, Instrument Engineering Technologist, (essential). Dual ticketing is advantageous.
  • Experience working in a similar role with exposure to maintenance work.
  • Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team.
  • Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed.
  • Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information.
  • Process Control System Experience.
  • Ability to work in a variety of different environments and climates.
