Full job description
Project Manager
Newfound Mechanical Ltd. is looking for an organized, motivated, and results-driven Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing commercial mechanical projects from planning through to completion, while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction or mechanical industry experience who is organized, communicates well, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial mechanical construction projects from project award through to completion.
- Coordinate project planning, scheduling, procurement, and day-to-day project activities.
- Work closely with Project Coordinators, Construction Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and monitor progress against project milestones.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking.
- Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services required for projects.
- Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure materials, equipment, and services are available when required.
- Monitor project costs, schedules, and overall progress and communicate issues to management.
- Identify potential delays, material shortages, scheduling conflicts, and other project risks.
- Assist with managing change orders, extras, credits, and scope changes.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including purchase orders, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, schedules, and correspondence.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding project progress, schedules, changes, and outstanding issues.
- Attend project meetings, site meetings, coordination meetings, and client meetings as required.
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams to address drawing, specification, and technical issues.
- Assist with resolving construction issues and coordinating solutions with site and project teams.
- Review subcontractor and supplier quotations and assist with purchasing decisions.
- Work with the accounting team to support project billing, invoicing, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance with company procedures, contractual requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
- Support the company’s health and safety policies and promote a safe work environment.
- Assist with project turnover, commissioning, deficiency completion, and closeout.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal team members.
- Provide regular project updates to senior management.
- Perform other project management and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in project management.
- Experience in the construction or mechanical industry is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial plumbing, heating, HVAC, or mechanical construction is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Basic understanding of project budgets, scheduling, procurement, and cost control.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Experience with construction management, purchasing, estimating, scheduling, or accounting software is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and coworkers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
