Full job description

Mobile Screening Technician (On-Call Subcontractor)

Workplace Medical Corp. (WMC)

Be Part of a Team That Keeps Workplaces Safe

Workplace Medical Corp. (WMC) is seeking a dependable and professional Mobile Screening Technician to deliver onsite occupational health testing across British Columbia.

This is a highly flexible—but highly demanding on-call subcontractor role that requires a strong commitment to availability and responsiveness. If you thrive working independently, are comfortable responding to urgent situations, and take pride in delivering high-quality service, we’d love to hear from you.

Important: Availability Expectations

This role requires a significant level of availability and flexibility:

  • You must be available to respond to calls at any time—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight
  • You must be able to deploy to a client site within approximately 3 hours or less of receiving a request
  • Work is on-call and unpredictable, with no guaranteed schedule or hour
  • This role is best suited for individuals with highly flexible lifestyles, such as retirees, semi-retired professionals, or self-employed individuals.
  • This role is not suitable for individuals with full-time employment or fixed schedules that would limit rapid response availability.

What You’ll Do

As a Mobile Screening Technician, you are the face of WMC in the field, providing timely, accurate, and professional testing services. Responsibilities include:

  • Responding to urgent, short-notice callouts at any time of day or night
  • Traveling to client sites and arriving within a 3-hour response window (or less)
  • Conducting drug & alcohol testing and other occupational health screenings in accordance with established protocols
  • Maintaining strict chain-of-custody procedures where required
  • Setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting screening equipment
  • Managing testing supplies, inventory tracking, and monthly reporting
  • Completing accurate documentation and electronic reporting
  • Coordinating follow-up testing or referrals as needed
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals who are reliable, independent, and responsive under pressure. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong commitment to 24/7 on-call availability and rapid response expectations
  • The ability to mobilize quickly and work irregular hours without notice
  • Confidence working independently in dynamic and sometimes urgent situations
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • A valid BC driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
  • The ability to lift and transport testing equipment

Nice to have (but not required):

  • Experience in occupational health, medical testing, emergency response, or a related field

Who This Role Is Best Suited For

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who:

  • Have minimal scheduling constraints and high day-to-day flexibility
  • Are retired, semi-retired, or self-employed
  • Are looking for supplemental, on-call work rather than stable full-time hours
  • Are comfortable with unpredictable, rapid-response work

Compensation & Support

  • $30–$35 per hour (based on experience)
  • $30 call-out premium per assignment
  • Mileage reimbursement as per subcontractor agreement
  • All equipment, supplies, and training provided

Why Join WMC?

  • Make a meaningful impact supporting safe and compliant workplaces
  • Enjoy a high degree of independence and autonomy
  • Work in a dynamic, mobile environment with varied assignments
  • Be part of a trusted organization in occupational health services

Ready to Apply?

If you have the flexibility, responsiveness, and professionalism this role demands, we encourage you to apply.

Please note: Candidates will be screened for availability requirements as part of the selection process.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week

Application question(s):

  • Can you reliably respond to a service request and travel to a client site within 3 hours or less?
  • Are you available to be on-call 24/7, including overnight and weekends, with no guaranteed schedule?
  • Do you currently have any employment or commitments that would limit your ability to respond to urgent, short-notice callouts?

Licence/Certification:

  • driver's license with a reliable vehicle (preferred)

Work Location: On the road
