Full job description

Durham Bone and Joint Specialists (DBJS) is committed to delivering orthopaedic care, within a system that provides accessibility and quality, in managing acute and chronic musculoskeletal related illnesses. Established in 2019, our team currently includes 9 orthopaedic surgeons and 11 Advanced Practice Providers, including Physiotherapists (PT) and Physician Assistants (CCPA), who work within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment to meet the growing needs of Durham region patients.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist (PT) or Physician Assistant (CCPA) to join the DBJS team. The candidate will receive hands-on training to enhance their clinical skills to an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) level to support the delivery of DBJS’ clinical care model. As an Advanced Practice Provider, the candidate will be responsible for consultation, physical examinations, evaluating diagnostic imaging results, determining clinical diagnosis in consultation with the Surgeon, treatment planning, and administration of conservative treatments for patients presenting for routine and urgent orthopaedic care needs. Treatments provided by the APP may include injections and casting. Candidates will work directly with patients and care providers, ensuring delivery of clear communication of the patient’s care needs, monitoring the patient's medical and health progress and providing education on treatment options, as required.

Durham Bone and Joint Specialists provides a structured training and onboarding program to support your transition into the Advanced Practice Provider role. As you progress and begin performing the role independently and efficiently, we will review your performance and discuss opportunities for growth, including a planned increase in base compensation. In addition, a performance-based bonus structure is in place, offering further earning potential once you are fully functioning in the role.

Professional Development and Certification Opportunities
At Durham Bone and Joint Specialists, we are committed to supporting the professional growth of our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to obtain certification in Orthopaedic Injections and Advanced Practice Provider certification at no cost, fully funded by the clinic. These certifications will enhance clinical scope and expertise within orthopaedics—equipping the provider with advanced assessment and procedural skills that are valued across the field.
