Full job description

Company Overview:

Scotia Garden Seafood is a harvester, producer and distributor of high-quality fish and seafood products. Our growing company is Yarmouth-based, with operations across Southwest Nova Scotia. This position is based at Scotia Garden Seafood’s meal and oil division.

Position Summary

Power Engineers are responsible for maintaining and operating boilers and plant equipment at our Short Beach location.

Position Information:

  • Full-time, permanent position with competitive hourly rate, from $30 per hour depending on qualifications/experience.
  • Shift work required
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, LTD, Critical Illness, EFAP, Employer Contributed RRSP).
  • Paid sick time
  • Based at our rendering facility at 105 Short Beach Road, Short Beach.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Control and monitor boilers and plant equipment when the plant is in production

· Perform maintenance and repairs on boilers and plant equipment when not in production

· Complete and maintain reports and logs

· Contribute to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness in work areas

· Other general maintenance duties within facilities

Work Environment

This position is performed within the manufacturing facility. When in the facility, the individual may be subject to loud noise and variable temperatures. They will be required to wear the appropriate CSA approved personal protective equipment and other garments as set out in the company policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

· Power Engineer 4th Class or 3rd Class

· Self-motivated and a willingness to learn

· Participate in maintaining a positive, healthy, and safe work environment
