Our Cambridge facility specializes in the design and manufacturing of neutron flux monitoring devices and in-core instrumentation systems used in nuclear power generation — products where precision, quality, and on-time delivery are mission-critical.

About the Role

We build neutron flux detectors — precision instruments used to monitor and safeguard nuclear power generation. It is exacting, hands-on work where craftsmanship matters and the finished product has to be right every time. If you take pride in working with your hands and want your skills to matter, we'd like to hear from you.

You'll fabricate, assemble, test and finish detector components by working to engineering drawings and detailed procedures. The role rewards attention to detail, steady hands and a willingness to learn specialized manufacturing techniques on the job.

This position fills an existing vacancy.

Essential Duties

  • Build precision metal components and assemblies to engineering drawings and written procedures, with a high standard of workmanship.
  • Use hand tools and manufacturing equipment for processes such cutting and assembling parts, welding, brazing, swaging and drawing
  • Measure, inspect and test parts to confirm they meet quality and customer specifications.
  • Set up jigs and fixtures, use measurement tools, and keep clear, accurate records.
  • Help identify ways to improve processes.
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures.

Responsibilities – Safety & Quality

  • All employees are expected to follow government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • All Cambridge employees play a role in the implementation of the site Quality and Safety Policy, which outlines a safe work environment as the foundation for the business unit’s goal to create a positive customer experience.

Education & Experience Requirements

Minimum

  • High-school diploma.
  • Some hands-on experience in manufacturing, construction, repair or similar work.
  • Comfort with basic hand tools and measuring tools such as tape measures and rulers.
  • Able to read instructions, fill out forms and do basic math.
  • Strong attention to detail and a careful, methodical approach.

Preferred

  • A two- or three-year college diploma in a technical field — such as Mechanical / Industrial Mechanical,
  • Manufacturing, Tool and Die, Welding & Fabrication, or Aviation Technician.
  • Three or more years in a factory environment, or building precision metal parts.
  • Experience in a precision-manufacturing, high-reliability or regulated environment.
  • Skill in at least one of: welding, brazing or soldering.
  • Skill in manual machining, such as milling or turning.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools (e.g. micrometers) and with setting up mechanical jigs and fixtures.
  • Comfort with manual fabrication tools such as pipe cutters, metal saws, drills and files.
  • Able to read manufacturing drawings and complex instructions and do related calculations.
