Full job description

Saltworks Technologies is a leading Canadian cleantech company solving two of the world's most pressing industrial challenges: water sustainability and critical minerals supply. We design and build advanced industrial water treatment and lithium refining systems for some of the world's most recognized companies – in semiconductors, mining, automotive, and more. Saltworks is a 2025 Fast 50 Company and EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner.

The role:

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale engineering projects from design through delivery. You will drive execution, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard. In addition to project delivery, you will support team development and improve project management practices across the organization.

Key responsibilities:
Project management & execution:

  • Lead complex projects from design through production, commissioning, and delivery.
  • Develop and execute project plans, including scope, schedule, milestones, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to produce complete, production-ready work packages.
  • Manage project controls, including budget tracking, cost-to-complete forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with Accounting.
  • Oversee commercial execution, including change orders, contract compliance, and client approvals.
  • Drive project reporting, reviews, and lessons learned to ensure successful delivery and continuous improvement.
Technical & cross-functional collaboration:
  • Identify, qualify, and integrate vendors and products to meet project and technical requirements.
  • Specify and deliver key components (e.g., pumps, valves, motors, filters) in partnership with suppliers.
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with production timelines in coordination with Supply Chain and Production.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards and control processes through alignment with Quality Assurance.
  • Support and oversee commissioning activities at the factory and customer sites.
  • Contribute to design standardization and continuous improvement initiatives, including pilot projects and new product development.
Leadership & continuous improvement:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and clients on assigned projects.
  • Mentor and coach Project Managers and Engineers to support team development and performance.
  • Align cross-functional teams to resolve escalations and maintain project momentum.
  • Improve and standardize project management processes, tools, and templates.
  • Support Business Development in project scoping and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field).
  • P.Eng. registered or eligible for registration.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management or engineering within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering engineering projects in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, including pressure piping (ASME B31.3), heat exchangers, and pumps.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD P&ID is an asset.
Core competencies:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving, including direct troubleshooting or tooling experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to travel to customer and vendor sites, including to the USA.
