The Position:

We are looking for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to interface between our mechanical design engineers and our in-house sheet metal manufacturing facility. In particular, the qualified candidates should be EXTREMELY well versed with programming Amada laser and punch presses, as well as panel bending machines such as RAS and Salvagnini.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create sheet-metal nestings and programs for CNC laser/punch/turret machines.
  • Set up and support panel bender operations, including tooling selection and bend sequencing.
  • Creates instructional tool sheets to guide set up operations of machines.
  • Ordering of tooling for CNC turret press & press brakes.
  • Produce clear, manufacturing-ready 2D drawings and basic 3D models.
  • Maintain BOMs and assist with ECOs and drawing revisions.
  • Work closely with shop floor and manufacturing teams to support daily production needs.
  • Select tools and fixtures to support CNC programs.
  • Design component, jigs and fixtures for new program development.

Education:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of SolidWorks experience (sheet-metal and drawings), including a practical understanding of tolerances, forming, welding, and powder coating.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a sheet-metal manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC programming. Experience with Amada equipment, including laser/punch and turret machines, and software is a plus.
  • Experience with panel bender operations and programming, including tooling selection and bend sequencing. Experience with Salvagnini equipment and software is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • SolidWorks proficiency focused on sheet-metal parts, flat patterns, and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience with Amada laser/punch machines, nesting software, and panel bender setup and programming.
  • Practical understanding of sheet-metal fabrication processes, tolerances, forming, welding, and finishes.
  • Strong application of DFM principles to support efficient, repeatable production.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Thursday, 8 am - 5 pm (onsite)
  • Friday, 9 am - 2 pm (remote)
