Surgical Coordinator – Ophthalmology

Key Responsibilities

· Knowledge about and ability to explain all functional and cosmetic surgeries performed by Orbit Eye Centre Physicians including but not limited to Cataract surgery, Ptosis surgery, Blepharoplasty, Mohs Reconstructions and more

· Scheduling surgeries at Chartered Surgical Facilities and area Hospitals

· Managing surgical Wait Lists and obtaining Burns

· Managing all surgical related paperwork and communication with patients

· Managing all surgical related paperwork and communication with surgical facilities

· Daily billing including Alberta Health and Private payments

· Daily communication with Surgeons regarding all surgery related matters

· Other administrative tasks as assigned

· On call duties as needed including evening and weekends when scheduled

Education:

· Post-secondary education in medical records or medical office assistant will be an asset.

· JCAHPO certification will be an asset.

Experience:

· 2+ years of previous Ophthalmology/Optometry experience is preferred.

· Experience in surgical coordinator role in Alberta is preferred

· Knowledge of Alberta Health procedures regarding waitlists and BURNs will be an asset
