Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician (Full-Time)

Location: Ottawa – Focus Eye Centre (Focus Medical Ancillary)

Job Summary

Focus Eye Centre is looking for a warm, energetic, and professional Ophthalmic Technician to join our busy and dynamic team. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on patient interaction, enjoys making patients feel welcome, and goes the extra mile to ensure they are treated with kindness and respect. This full-time role is perfect for someone who loves working in a fast-paced clinical environment while supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering exceptional eye care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with a friendly and positive attitude, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for throughout their visit.
  • Perform pre-examination testing, including recording patient histories and conducting diagnostic measurements.
  • Operate advanced diagnostic equipment such as OCT, visual fields, Pentacam, etc.
  • Support ophthalmologists by preparing patients, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic flow.
  • Educate patients about medications, procedures, and post-operative care in a clear and reassuring manner.
  • Educate patients about IOL options.
  • Help manage patient flow to ensure the clinic runs efficiently and patients are seen promptly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician (or in a similar medical/clinical role) is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for patient care.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (Accuro EMR) systems is an advantage.
