Full-Time Medical Office Assistant

Location: Downtown Kamloops, BC
Position Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday

We are seeking an exceptional Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our busy and growing physician-led medical practice in downtown Kamloops, BC.

The successful candidate will be a compassionate, organized, and highly motivated professional who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering outstanding patient care and customer service. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, works well both independently and collaboratively, and is committed to helping create a positive experience for every patient who walks through our doors.

While previous medical office experience is an asset, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates the right attitude, professionalism, and willingness to learn.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Reception & Communication

  • Welcome and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
  • Respond to patient inquiries and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers
  • Provide exceptional customer service both in person and over the phone

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Scan, upload, fax, email, and file medical documents
  • Process referrals, consultations, and correspondence
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications
  • Handle accounts receivable and related administrative tasks
  • Ensure patient information is documented accurately and confidentially

Clinical Support

  • Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures when required
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms
  • Clean and maintain clinical and reception areas throughout the day
  • Monitor and maintain medical and office supply inventories
  • Assist with other clinic operations as needed

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with physicians, specialists, allied health professionals, and community healthcare partners
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and patient-centered clinic culture
  • Support clinic workflow and assist colleagues when needed

QualificationsRequired

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency with computers and common office software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and customer service

Preferred

  • Medical Office Assistant certification
  • Previous experience working in a medical office, healthcare setting, or professional administrative environment
  • Experience with EMR systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with referral management, scheduling, and medical billing processes
