Job Requirements:

  • University degree, CIP or FCIP designation.
  • Minimum of three years’ accident benefits adjusting experience dealing with catastrophic and complex injury cases in Ontario.
  • Thorough knowledge understanding of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule and related regulations.

Job Summary:

The Accident Benefits Specialist will:

  • Deliver exceptional client service at all times, providing compassionate support and guidance while maintaining the high standards of Oatley Vigmond.
  • Attend potential new client meetings in the office, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and clients' homes, with the ability to travel independently as required.
  • Complete, submit, and monitor Accident Benefits applications, forms, and expense claims with insurers and other relevant parties.
  • Coordinate and attend rehabilitation case conferences, team meetings, and client care discussions both in person and remotely.
  • Manage a caseload of complex Accident Benefits matters, ensuring rehabilitation providers, insurers, and other stakeholders remain engaged and accountable throughout the claim process.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, rehabilitation professionals, insurers, employers, medical providers, and legal counsel to support successful outcomes.
  • Review benefit denials, reductions, and terminations, prepare applications to the Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT), and work closely with the assigned lawyer on dispute resolution and litigation strategy.
  • Monitor critical deadlines and limitation periods, ensuring accurate file management and documentation.
  • Advocate for clients by following up with insurers regarding delayed, denied, or unpaid benefits.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries, telephone calls, and correspondence.
  • Collaborate closely with partners, associates, and support staff to provide seamless client service.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, educational seminars, and networking events as required.
